Initially, Mr. Farrington started out in the construction industry; but after realizing his deep affection for people, he departed that field and in 1965 entered the transportation industry. His interest in the transportation industry led him to the first Bahamahost program, where he graduated as the Plaque Winner from that class in 1978. In 1979, he won the National Tourism Achievement Award. By this time, Mr. Farrington had started his own limousine company, which is still in operation today under the name of: Romeo’s Executive Limousine & Taxi Services.
In 1993, his company won the 18th International Award for Tourist and Hotel Industry in Madrid Spain. In 1996, he won the Cacique Award for Transportation. In 2002, he won the Cacique Lifetime Achievement Award. On June 14th, 2006, he was sworn in as a Justice of the Peace, on June 18th, 2006, he was honoured by The Golden Gates World Outreach Ministries and on June 15th, 2007, he was awarded the award for Ethics and Excellence by CEO Network. In March of 2009, Mr. Farrington was awarded by The Ministry of Tourism for dedicated services to the advancement of The Bahamahost Programme during their 30th Anniversary. Mr. Farrington holds many certificates of merits for the development of the tourism industry.
A man of many talents, among which are singing and acting, Mr. Farrington has had small parts in T.V. shows such as: “Roy Clarke’s T.V. Special, as well as in the movies “Never Say Never Again “ (James Bond), “Jaws The Revenge” and “The Love Boat Valentine Special”. He was chosen as one of the persons to pose for the Pride and Joy posters that were seen in store windows throughout The Bahamas in addition to several foreign countries.
Mr. Farrington said that he spent 22 years asking people if they “needed a taxi”, and boasts that for the past 21 years, everyone is asking him for taxi or limo service. This, he feels, is due to the fact that he puts service above self.
A lecturer for the Bahamahost Program for the past twenty (20) years, Mr. Farrington is married to Curlene Farrington (nee Barr), a union that has been blessed with eight children – four (4) boys and four (4)
girls, all of whom at sometime or the other have worked with their father in the transportation industry.
Mr. Farrington holds the highest respect for time, and is nationally known as someone who will not be late for an appointment. He will hasten to tell you that he hopes the day will come when his company will be known as the best limousine company in the world as it relates to service.
